Prayer

Steve Allen once said
“If you pray for rain
Long enough,
It eventually does fall . . .
The same thing happens
In the absence of prayers.”

It’s hard to call him wrong;
The logic of his thought
Seems irrefutable . . .
But those who pray
At least achieve the gain
Of opening a dialog.
