This Is How I Learned to Cry

I was walking down the street
Right in front of me
Memories from the long-ago past

Thinking of the things I still regret
The words I won’t forget
All these things that were meant to last

This is how I show I try
It's how I know to get by
Staying ashore
Writing a song
This is not arithmetic at all

This is how I learned to cry
It’s a path on another side
Laying low
Following the road
This is not sympathy at all

I was in a hazy dream
Fast asleep
Tired and weak, but walking around

I was searching desperately
Right in front of me
A portal to another wing

One could blame this all on science
A road full of defiance
Living as if I’m in a dream

This is how I show I try
It's how I know to get by
Staying ashore
Writing a song
This is not arithmetic at all

This is how I learned to cry
It’s a path on another side
Laying low
Following the road
This is not sympathy at all

I was walking down the street
Right in front of me
Memories from the long-ago past
