Daffodil

As long as I recall
Every spring
On this bare spot of soil

A clump of green
Then a grand spray
Of gold blooms appears.

Other seasons
Nothing’s here
But rough grass.

This February sight
Is full of joy,
Reassuring me

Life returns.
