July! The "Be yourself and Have fun" month of Summer! What are you planning to live your dream? Here in the western desert area of Texas the heat can be too much to roam around in - better to stay inside with an excellent Air Conditioner. And that's a good time to read this issue of Pencil Stubs Online.
Our poetry this month brings back a few favorite authors like Mark Crocker with "To My Best Friend," and "Cloudy" by M Jay Mansfield. Bruce Clifford's two poems are "Knowing You" and "Empty Without You." "Oh Cedar," Golden Eyes," and "Extravagant Moon Poem" are by John I. Blair. Bud Lemire's poem is "Double Entendre."
Walt Perryman's poems are "A Few Mysteries and Secrets of My Exciting Life," "To All You Fathers," "Men, This is Father's Day," and "Another Walt Perryman SAGA." Yours truly shows "Should I Meditate" and "My Mind Doesn't Need A Cane."
An interesting article authored by Christopher Reburn is titled "What Happens in The First Minute After We Die?" Reburn, a longtime friend, is a popular Consultant, Medium, and Astrologist with many years experience.
Our authors have submitted some interesting columns for this month. Judith Kroll's is almost poetry, with her intense pleasure in observing the lovely area around her home. "On Trek" is the title of her column and it is like a journey.
Marilyn Carnell's "Sifoddling Along" muses on the changes that occur as the years slip by. A different viewpoint emerges with time, and one finds oneself with new reactions to even minor happenings.
Thomas F. O'Neill's "Introspective" is a veritable welcome to July and to the memories it evokes. Pauline Evanosky's column "Woo Woo" delves into changes we may feel we should make and offers some "How To" suggestions.
"Irish Eyes" by Dublin's Mattie Lennon reports on Ireland's annual Listowel's Writers' week that was just closing as our last issue was published. He discusses some of the highlights and including two books that any writer should hail happily.
Melinda Cohenour's column "Armchair Genealogy" has updates on the murder trial and sentencing that DNA played such a significant detector role on. She is also handling the cooking column since her husband Rod who was doing it passed away. The recipe for this month was based on our mother's and was mostly unwritten. Melinda worked to restore and share it in "Cooking with Rod's Family."
We can't close this column without expressing our love and gratitude to our webmaster and co-founder Michael L. Craner. We have known him for many years and his encouragement and caring never falters. Just must say "Thanks, Mike!"
We are looking forward to seeing everyone in August. School will be the big news as it begins its Fall schedule.
